Emergence of robust and efficient networks in a family of attachment models

Fuxuan Liao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the self-organization of robust and efficient networks for future communication or transportation systems. The optimal robustness of an onion-like structure with positive degree-degree correlations is found, generated by incremental growth methods based on random and intermediation attachments. The importance of minimum degree selection is explored by introducing a continuous interpolation between random and minimum degree attachments. The study also examines the effect of distance on the emergence of onion-like structure through modified intermediation models. Results show that inverse preferential attachment plays a significant role in achieving robust onion-like structure, but a small amount of random attachment is necessary for network efficiency when beta is large.

Hidden network generating rules from partially observed complex networks

Ruochen Yang et al.

Summary: Complex networks exhibit heterogeneous self-similar higher order topological structures often characterized by multifractal nature, posing challenges in describing their complexity and inferring their generator rules. The authors propose a weighted multifractal graph model for studying structural properties of complex networks in scenarios with partial observational data or noise in the input network, demonstrating its effectiveness on biological networks.

A loop enhancement strategy for network robustness

Masaki Chujyo et al.

Summary: This study focuses on enhancing loops as a new approach to improve robustness by proposing edge rewiring methods and evaluating their effects on real networks. Results show that the proposed methods can improve robustness, especially in handling the relationship between robustness and loops. Furthermore, the work emphasizes the importance of reducing the gap between maximum and minimum degrees in significantly improving robustness.
