Comparative and phylogenetic analyses of Swertia L. (Gentianaceae) medicinal plants (from Qinghai, China) based on complete chloroplast genomes

Xin Xu et al.

Summary: This study sequenced and assembled 16 complete chloroplast genomes of 10 Swertia species mainly found in Qinghai Province, China. The results showed typical structures and characteristics of plant cp genomes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that Swertia is a complex polyphyletic group.

Evolutionary characteristics and phylogeny of cotton chloroplast tRNAs

Ning Wang et al.

Summary: Novel structural variations were identified in cotton chloroplast tRNAs, and gene loss events were more prominent than duplications in chloroplast tRNAs. Analysis of 27 Gossypium species' chloroplast tRNAs revealed new tRNA structural variations in cotton plants.

Characterization and Comparative Analysis of Complete Chloroplast Genomes of Three Species From the Genus Astragalus (Leguminosae)

Chunyu Tian et al.

Summary: This study sequenced and annotated the complete chloroplast genomes of three Astragalus species, revealing that they belong to the inverted repeat lacking clade (IRLC) and have similar sequences in terms of gene contents. Abundant simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci were detected, with most containing A/T homopolymers. Comparison with Astragalus membranaceus var. membranaceus showed divergence in non-coding regions. Seven genes showed high nucleotide variability and could be used as DNA barcodes for Astragalus spp. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that Astragalus is closely related to Oxytropis within the tribe Galegeae.
