Targeting of SPCSV-RNase3 via CRISPR-Cas13 confers resistance against sweet potato virus disease

Yicheng Yu et al.

Summary: The research aimed to enhance SPVD resistance by targeting SPCSV-RNase3 using the CRISPR-Cas13 technique. RfxCas13d exhibited higher RNA targeting activity, which suppressed the RNA silencing suppressor activity of SPCSV-RNase3, leading to enhanced resistance against viruses in both N. benthamiana and sweet potato plants.

Genome-wide identification, evolutionary and expression analyses of LEA gene family in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

RuoLan Huang et al.

Summary: The study identified 126 LEA genes in the peanut genome through genome-wide analysis, divided into eight groups. Segmental duplication played a critical role in the amplification of AhLEAs, with most genes expressed in the late stages of peanut embryonic development. AhLEAs were involved in response to various abiotic stresses, regulated by hormones, and demonstrated enhanced tolerance to cold, aluminum, and drought stresses in yeast.

A pan-cancer transcriptome analysis of exitron splicing identifies novel cancer driver genes and neoepitopes

Ting-You Wang et al.

Summary: Exitron splicing (EIS) functions in cancer by affecting 63% of human coding genes, 95% of which are tumor specific. EIS alters cancer driver genes, leading to gain- or loss-of-function, and also produces neoepitopes that bind to MHC class I or II. Analysis of clinical data shows a correlation between EIS-derived neoantigen load and checkpoint inhibitor response in clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Identification and Regulation of Tomato Serine/Arginine-Rich Proteins Under High Temperatures

Remus R. E. Rosenkranz et al.

Summary: Alternative splicing is a crucial mechanism for gene regulation in eukaryotes, and changes in splicing profiles under high temperatures can impact cellular homeostasis and thermotolerance. SR-coding genes in tomato are regulated by the master regulator of HS response and may affect temperature-sensitive alternative splicing.

Pre-mRNA alternative splicing as a modulator for heat stress response in plants

Yu Ling et al.

Summary: The article reviews AS regulation in response to heat stress in different plant species and proposes that AS regulation participates in heat priming establishment and heat memory maintenance in plants. It suggests that pre-mRNA splicing variation is an important regulator of plant heat stress responses.
