The phytochemical profiling of the root extract of Salvia leriifolia, an endemic plant of Iran, was investigated. Sixteen abietane diterpenes were isolated, including three original compounds. The structural elucidation was performed using 1D and 2D NMR and HRMS, and the absolute configuration of previously unreported compounds was determined using circular dichroism (ECD). The isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against AGS, MIA PaCa-2, HeLa, and MCF-7 cell lines using the MTT assay. One of the known diterpenes, pisiferal, exhibited high cytotoxicity against all tested cell lines at concentrations ranging from 9.3 +/- 0.6 to 14.38 +/- 1.4 mu M.
