The effect of two concurrent exercise modalities on serum concentrations of FGF21, irisin, follistatin, and myostatin in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Morteza Motahari Rad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different sequences of concurrent training on adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that regardless of the sequence, concurrent training increased irisin and FST concentrations while decreasing MSTN concentrations. Additionally, concurrent training improved body composition, strength, and peak oxygen uptake.

Associations of apelin, leptin, irisin, ghrelin, insulin, glucose levels, and lipid parameters with physical activity during eight weeks of regular exercise training

Aykut Dundar et al.

Summary: The effects of 8 weeks of basketball training on apelin, leptin, irisin, ghrelin, insulin, glucose, and blood lipids were evaluated among basketball players. Apelin and ghrelin levels increased while leptin, irisin, and insulin levels decreased after the training. These changes were consistent with the decrease in lipid levels.

Habitually inactive physically - a proposed procedure of counteracting cognitive decline in women with diminished insulin sensitivity through a high-intensity circuit training program

Katarzyna Micielska et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that high-intensity circuit training can enhance cognitive functions and quality of life, with changes in BDNF and CATB concentrations, as well as a decrease in FGF-21 concentration. Improvement in cognitive functions was more significant in females, who experienced a drop in FGF-21.
