Spatially-varying impedance model for locally reacting acoustic liners at a high sound intensity

Remi Roncen et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the spatially-varying acoustic liner impedance in aeroacoustic ducts under high sound pressure levels. The study reveals that impedance discontinuity plays a key role in defining the impedance variation, with larger discontinuities leading to significant nonlinear effects. An iterative numerical strategy is proposed to predict the spatial variation of acoustic impedance over a liner, and a Bayesian inference process is used in combination with a surrogate model to validate the model using laser Doppler velocimetry measurements of the acoustic velocity fields above the liner at high sound intensity.

Demonstration and verification of exact DMD analysis applied to double-pulsed schlieren image of supersonic impinging jet

Kasumi Ohmizu et al.

Summary: The exact dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) method was used to analyze a nonsequential image dataset and investigate the effect of dataset length on the spatial modes and estimated frequencies of aeroacoustic fields. The study found that the estimated frequencies of DMD modes roughly coincide with the highest peak in the acoustic spectra. However, the estimated frequencies of high-order DMD modes show greater variation when the dataset length is short. Recalculating the frequency based on the wavelength of the corresponding spatial mode can improve the estimation accuracy.

A note on the accuracy of the generalized-α scheme for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations

Ju Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the temporal accuracy of two generalized-alpha schemes for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations was investigated using numerical evidence. It was found that only first-order accuracy was achieved for the pressure in the widely-adopted temporal discretization approach, but second-order accuracy could be recovered by evaluating the pressure at the intermediate time step. The recommendation is made to use the second approach for integrating the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations.

Aeroacoustic Assessment of Performance of Overtip Liners in Reducing Airfoil Noise

Sergi Palleja-Cabre et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the application of overtip-rotor liner technology in reducing fan noise and conducts a fundamental experimental evaluation. The results show that overtip liners can reduce broadband gap noise by 5-10 dB even in the absence of a tip gap.

Summary: A method for flow field prediction based on local PIV measurement with time-delay embedding is developed. The DMD with time-delay embedding improves both spatial and temporal resolution of flow field prediction, showing high accuracy and robustness to noise.
