Configurational diffusion transport of water and oil in dual continuum shales

Mohammed Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui et al.

Summary: Understanding fluid flow in shale rocks is crucial for unconventional energy resource recovery. This study combines experimental and digital rock investigations to explore the differences in water and oil uptake in shale rocks, revealing that water has a higher overall absorption rate in shale due to greater diffusion into the matrix, while oil is more easily absorbed by pre-existing fractures.

Observation of contact angle hysteresis due to inhomogeneous electric fields

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, electrowetting experiments on microstriped electrodes show that the static contact angle hysteresis of droplets can be controlled by an inhomogeneous electric field while remaining isotropic, as does the droplet contact radius. This electrowetting hysteresis enables the continuous and dynamic control of contact angle hysteresis, providing a new approach for fundamental research and manufacturing sticky surfaces.
