Effect and Mechanism of Qingfei Paidu Decoction in the Management of Pulmonary Fibrosis and COVID-19

Yu Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the anti-pulmonary fibrosis activity of Qingfei Paidu decoction (QFPD) and its mode of action using in vivo and in vitro models and network pharmacology. QFPD effectively alleviates inflammation and collagen deposition, improves epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and inhibits M2 polarization of macrophages in pulmonary fibrosis. The main target of QFPD is SRC, and the key compound sitosterol regulates the EMT process and macrophage polarization by inhibiting SRC activation. QFPD may be valuable in preventing severe neocoronavirus disease in patients with pulmonary fibrosis caused by COVID-19.
