Induction of lncRNA NORAD accounts for hypoxia-induced chemoresistance and vasculogenic mimicry in colorectal cancer by sponging the miR-495-3p/hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α)

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that NORAD expression is elevated in CRC tissues and is positively associated with HIF-1 alpha expression. Under hypoxic conditions, enhanced NORAD expression promotes vasculogenic mimicry and resistance to 5-FU in CRC cells. Knockdown of NORAD inhibits hypoxia-induced vasculogenic mimicry and 5-FU resistance, as well as reduces HIF-1 alpha expression and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. NORAD acts as a competitive endogenous RNA of miR-495-3p to regulate HIF-1 alpha. A1BG-AS1 acts as a molecular sponge for miR-485-5p and subsequently increases FLOT1 expression in breast cancer cells, suggesting a potential novel therapeutic target for breast cancer.

lncRNA MIR210HG promotes the progression of endometrial cancer by sponging miR-337-3p/137 via the HMGA2-TGF-f3/Wnt pathway

Jian Ma et al.

Summary: EMT promotes tumorigenesis and metastasis while increasing tumor tolerance to treatment. MIR210HG overexpression in endometrial cancer tissues is associated with poor prognosis, and its regulation of the miR-337-3p/137-HMGA2 axis suggests potential as a therapeutic target for endometrial cancer.

LncRNA HCP5 Induces Gastric Cancer Cell Proliferation, Invasion, and EMT Processes Through the miR-186-5p/WNT5A Axis Under Hypoxia

Ming Gao et al.

Summary: The study confirmed that the upregulation of WNT5A expression by HCP5 competitively binding to miR-186-5p promotes the development of GC cells. In GC tissues, an increase in HCP5 and WNT5A expressions and a reduction in miR-186-5p expression were found, with a negative correlation between miR-186-5p and HCP5/WNT5A. The inhibition of HCP5 suppressed cell activity and EMT in GC cells under hypoxia, while the inhibition of miR-186-5p or the overexpression of WNT5A had opposite effects.

miR-30a/SOX4 Double Negative Feedback Loop is modulated by Disulfiram and regulates EMT and Stem Cell-like properties in Breast Cancer

Zijian Liu et al.

Summary: miR-30a inhibits EMT and CSC phenotypes in breast cancer cells by targeting SOX4 and forming a double-negative feedback loop. Knockdown of SOX4 suppresses EMT and CSC phenotypes through the TGF-beta/SMAD pathway, consistent with the effects of miR-30a overexpression. High expression of miR-30a is associated with a good prognosis in breast cancer patients.

Long non-coding RNA PTAR inhibits apoptosis but promotes proliferation, invasion and migration of cervical cancer cells by binding miR-101

Xuehe Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that an aberrant upregulation of PTAR in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of HeLa cells, while inhibiting apoptosis and downregulating miR-101 expression through direct binding. These findings suggest that PTAR plays a crucial role and may serve as a promising target for cervical cancer diagnosis and therapy.

lncRNA CASC9 sponges miR-758-3p to promote proliferation and EMT in bladder cancer by upregulating TGF-β2

Zeng Zhang et al.

Summary: The long noncoding RNA CASC9 is an oncogenic gene in several types of cancer, including bladder cancer, where it regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Upregulation of CASC9 is associated with increased invasion ability and poor prognosis in bladder cancer. CASC9 functions as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-758-3p, regulating the expression of TGF-beta 2 and promoting proliferation and EMT in bladder cancer.
