Variability of respiratory rate measurements in neonates- every minute counts
Catherine Muthoni Njeru et al.
Summary: The study found that there is poor agreement between respiratory rate measurements of different durations in neonates, with longer observation periods leading to worse agreement, especially at higher respiratory rates. This suggests that neonates have high variability of respiratory rate, and continuous or repeated monitoring may be more reliable than single measurements for clinicians.
