Discovery of 8-Hydroxyquinoline as a Histamine Receptor 2 Blocker Scaffold

Paola L. Marquez-Gomez et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel HRH2 blocker scaffold was discovered through the development of an HRH2-based sensor. Three HRH2 blockers were identified and validated in mammalian cells, indicating their potential as competitive antagonists. Furthermore, these blockers were found to have antimicrobial properties and may modulate gastric acid secretion by blocking HRH2 activation.

Photoredox Catalyzed Thioformylation of Terminal Alkynes Using Nitromethane as a Formyl Source

Muneer-ul-Shafi Bhat et al.

Summary: A photoredox thioformylation method using nitromethane as a formyl anion equivalent has been developed for the synthesis of (E)-1,2-difunctionalized acrylaldehyde from terminal alkynes. This strategy introduces an adaptable aldehyde function across an alkyne and provides a new route to synthesizing alpha-alkyl/aryl aldehydes.

Synthesis of 1,2-oxazetidines with a free -NH group via photoredox catalysis

Majid Ahmad Ganie et al.

Summary: A new photoredox approach has been reported for the one-step synthesis of oxazetidines with a free -NH group, using the combined use of alkyne, thiophenol, and azide. The synthesized oxazetidine with the -NH group was found to be stable enough for various late-stage transformations.

Photocatalytic functionalizations of alkynes

Neha Chalotra et al.

Summary: Visible-light-mediated functionalization of alkynes has expanded their scope by unraveling new mechanistic pathways and allowing the introduction of new radical precursors. These methods have successfully addressed challenges in alkyne functionalization such as stereoselective and regioselective control.
