Nickel-Catalyzed Reductive Borylation of Enaminones via C(sp2)-N Bond Cleavage

Xiaoning Li et al.

Summary: This study describes an unprecedented nickel-catalyzed reductive borylation, which plays a significant role in synthesizing beta-ketone boronic esters. The dual function of B(2)pin(2) and the use of water as a hydrogen source transferred to the target products were discovered. Through mechanism studies, an air-stable nickel catalyst was successfully applied to the cleavage of alkenyl C(sp(2))-N bonds and the reductive process of alkenyl boronic ester intermediates.

Boryl Radical-Mediated C-H Activation of Inactivated Alkanes for the Synthesis of Internal Alkynes

Jia-Bin Han et al.

Summary: An intriguing pyridine-boryl radical-mediated C-H alkynylation reaction of inactivated alkanes was described, featuring mild operation condition, wide substrate scope, and moderate to good yields. The presence of 4-cyanopyride N-oxide was crucial to the success of the reaction. Cyclohexane is more easily functionalized than toluene in this reaction, which can be rationalized by polarity-match principle.

Transition-metal-switchable divergent synthesis of nitrile-containing pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines and indolizines

Chongjiu Lu et al.

Summary: A palladium-catalyzed oxidative formal [4 + 1] annulation of pyridine-substituted acrylonitriles towards divergent fused N-heterocycles synthesis is reported. Heterodifunctionalization with Cu(OAc)(2) and urea gives nitrile-substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines in moderate to good yields, while homodifunctionalization with FeBr3 leads to synthesis of nitrile-substituted indolizines in excellent yields.

Recent advances in the synthesis of indolizine and its derivatives by radical cyclization/cross-coupling

Jieru Hui et al.

Summary: This review systematically examines the current and latest synthetic strategies using radical species or radical intermediates for synthesizing indolizines and their derivatives. The review is classified into two parts based on the type of building blocks used for indolizine ring construction and the type of radical trigger for indolizine derivative construction. We anticipate that this review will provide a deep understanding of this topic and help researchers develop novel approaches for the synthesis of indolizine and its derivatives.

A convenient pinacol coupling of diaryl ketones with B2pin2via pyridine catalysis

Junhyuk Jo et al.

Summary: A convenient pyridine-boryl radical-mediated pinacol coupling of diaryl ketones has been developed, using a stable diboron reagent and pyridine Lewis base catalyst to generate ketyl radicals. This new method allows for the efficient production of diols with up to 99% yield within 1 hour, demonstrating the superior reactivity of diaryl ketones over monoaryl carbonyl compounds. DFT calculations suggest that the presence of two aromatic rings is necessary for maximum stabilization of the transition states.
