Rhodium-Catalyzed C(sp2)-H Alkoxycarbonylation/Acylation of Indolines with Anhydrides as a Carbonyl Source

Hirotsugu Suzuki et al.

Summary: In this study, we developed a rhodium-catalyzed alkoxylcarbonylation/acylation method using anhydrides as the carbonyl source to synthesize C7-carbonylated indolines. This catalytic process is additive- and CO-free, and it successfully achieves the C-H acylation of indolines, leading to the formation of alpha-branched ketones that were difficult to prepare using previously reported analogous catalytic reactions.

Borylation Directed Borylation of Indoles Using Pyrazabole Electrophiles: A One-Pot Route to C7-Borylated-Indolines

Jurgen Pahl et al.

Summary: In this research, a new diboron compound, Pyrazabole (1), was discovered, which can be transformed into ditopic electrophiles. The unique B center dot center dot center dot B separation in 1 enables double E-H functionalization of indoles and indolines. Specifically, the activation of 1 with HNTf2 generates an electrophile that can convert N-H indoles and indolines into N/C7-diborylated indolines.

Phosphorus(III)-assisted regioselective C-H silylation of heteroarenes

Dingyi Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents a regioselective C7-H silylation of indole derivatives assisted by strong coordination of the palladium catalyst with a phosphorus directing group. The method allows for the effective synthesis of various C7-silylated indoles with broad functional group compatibility. Additionally, the hypothesis regarding the P(III)-directed C-H metalation event is successfully tested through mechanistic experiments and DFT calculations.

Nickel-Catalyzed N-Arylation of NH-Sulfoximines with Aryl Halides via Paired Electrolysis

Dong Liu et al.

Summary: A novel strategy using nickel catalysis and electrochemistry has been developed for the construction of sulfoximine derivatives, achieving excellent functional group tolerance and yield under mild reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that anodic oxidation of a Ni-II species is crucial for promoting the reductive elimination of a C-N bond from a resulting Ni-III species at room temperature.

Autocatalytic photoredox Chan-Lam coupling of free diaryl sulfoximines with arylboronic acids

Cong Wang et al.

Summary: The study presents a mild copper-catalyzed photoredox dehydrogenative Chan-Lam coupling reaction, initiated by ambient light-induced copper-catalyzed single-electron reduction of NH-sulfoximines. This auto-catalytic process not only increases environmental friendliness, but also tackles the synthetic challenges of N-arylation of NH-diaryl sulfoximines.

Efficient Synthesis of Sulfur-Stereogenic Sulfoximines via Ru(II)-Catalyzed Enantioselective C-H Functionalization Enabled by Chiral Carboxylic Acid

Tao Zhou et al.

Summary: An undeveloped Ru(II)-catalyzed enantioselective C-H functionalization involving an enantiodetermining C-H cleavage step has been described in this study. Using a novel class of chiral binaphthyl monocarboxylic acids as chiral ligands, a broad range of sulfur-stereogenic sulfoximines were synthesized in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% yield and 99% ee) via desymmetrization, kinetic resolution, and parallel kinetic resolution. Furthermore, the resolution products can be easily transformed into chiral sulfoxides and key intermediates for kinase inhibitors.

Enantioconvergent Cu-Catalyzed Radical C-N Coupling of Racemic Secondary Alkyl Halides to Access α-Chiral Primary Amines

Yu-Feng Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the successful use of sulfoximines as ammonia surrogates for enantioconvergent radical C-N coupling with diverse racemic secondary alkyl halides, achieving high yields and enantioselectivity. The obtained alpha-chiral primary amines can be converted to various synthetic building blocks, ligands, and drugs, highlighting the potential of enantioconvergent radical cross-coupling as a general chiral carbon-heteroatom formation strategy.
