Structural characterization, Gd3+→ Eu3+ energy transfer and radiative properties of Gd/Eu in codoped Li2O-ZnO-SrO-B2O3-P2O5 glass

P. Ramakrishna et al.

Summary: A series of Gd doped Li2O-ZnO-SrO-B2O3-P2O5 glasses and co-doped samples with different Eu3+ concentrations were synthesized. The effect of Gd doping on the thermal properties of the glasses was studied, and photoluminescence emissions of Gd3+ and Eu3+ were observed in the doped glass matrix. The phonon energy of the glass matrix was calculated, and the suitability of the co-doped glasses for optical display devices was analyzed. The change in the local symmetry environment of the dopant ions with Gd incorporation was also investigated.

The study on BWGd:Nd glass for new laser amplifier: Properties, theoretical and practical investigations

E. Kaewnuam et al.

Summary: This study investigated a new laser-amplifier glass, Nd3+ doped tungsten gadolinium borate glass (BWGd:Nd). The addition of Nd2O3 content increased the degree of Nd-O covalency and the number of NBO, leading to the enhancement of the ligand field strength and the splitting of Nd3+ energy levels. The strong Nd3+ luminescence was achieved through electron-phonon coupling and low phonon energy. In practical experiments, the developed glass demonstrated high gain amplification under pumping power of 3.55 W.

Tunable orange, yellow and white emission of Pr3+-doped tungsten gadolinium borate glasses

N. Wantana et al.

Summary: Pr3+ doped WO3-Gd2O3-B2O3 glasses were studied for their luminescence properties under different excitations. It was found that the glass doped with 0.1 mol% Pr2O3 exhibited the highest emission intensity. These glasses displayed tunable luminescence properties, making them suitable for low-cost light sources and electron detection materials.

Deciphering the site occupancy and photoluminescence character of Sm3+ in dense-packed Ca3MgSi2O8 nanocrystals using time-resolved emission spectroscopy

R. K. Padhi et al.

Summary: The photoluminescence properties of Sm+3 doped ternary alkaline earth silicate phosphor Ca3-xMgSi2O8: xSm(+3) synthesized by sol-gel method were studied. The crystal structure of the phosphor was characterized by XRD, SEM, and FTIR spectroscopy. The emission spectrum consisted of four bands, with luminescence quenching observed beyond the optimal doping concentration, primarily due to quadrupole-quadrupole interactions.

D. Yodkantee et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of Gd2O3 and CeF3 modifications on potassium gadolinium phosphate glasses scintillators. Results showed that the optimal concentrations for Gd2O3 and CeF3 were 9 and 17 mol% and 5 mol%, respectively. These findings are important for the research and development of radiation detector materials.

Effect of Gd2O3 on the radiation shielding, physical, optical and luminescence behaviors of Gd2O3-La2O3-ZnO-B2O3-Dy2O3 glasses

S. Kaewjaeng et al.

Summary: This study focuses on lead-free glasses with different concentrations of Gd3+ ions, investigating their physical properties, absorption spectra, and photoluminescence. The results show that Gd-1Dy glass samples exhibit strong white emission under excitation, with Dy3+ ions showing excellent X-ray luminescence performance. The findings suggest that Gd-1Dy glass samples have the potential to be used as radiation detectors and lead-free radiation shielding materials in the future.
