Hemoglobin quantification in red blood cells via dry mass mapping based on UV absorption

Nischita Kaza et al.

Summary: This study compares UV absorption-based mass mapping at four UV wavelengths and finds consistent results in Hb mass and mean corpuscular Hb values. It demonstrates the potential for achieving full hematological analysis using a single UV illumination wavelength, improving speed and cost-effectiveness.

Label-free automated neutropenia detection and grading using deep-ultraviolet microscopy

Ashkan Ojaghi et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple, low-cost, fast, and robust technique for detecting and grading neutropenia based on label-free multi-spectral deep-UV microscopy. The developed framework accurately differentiates patients with moderate and severe neutropenia from healthy samples in minutes. This work has significant implications for the development of a low-cost and easy-to-use point-of-care device for tracking neutrophil counts, which can improve patient quality of life and treatment outcomes.
