Superhybrid Mode-Enhanced Optical Torques on Mie-Resonant Particles

Yuzhi Shi et al.

Summary: This study reveals the emergence of superhybrid modes with magnetic multipoles and electric toroidal moments, excited by linearly polarized beams, leading to giant positive and negative optical torques on Mie-resonant particles. These giant and reversed torques are observed for the first time in the scattering spectrum, opening up a new avenue for exploring metaoptics and optical manipulations.

Left-handed optical torque on dipolar plasmonic nanoparticles induced by Fano-like resonance

Huajin Chen et al.

Summary: We theoretically and numerically demonstrate that Fano-like resonance can induce a left-handed optical torque on a dipolar plasmonic core-shell nanoparticle in the interference optical field composed of two linearly polarized plane waves. This torque can be flexibly tailored by the particle morphology.
