Tamm plasmon-polaritons and Fabry-Perot excitation in a magnetophotonic structure

Tatiana Mikhailova et al.

Summary: This study proposed a magnetophotonic Tamm structure with a bilayer film of Bi-substituted iron garnets (Bi:IG) that exhibits a significant magneto-optical response. Tamm plasmon-polaritons (TPP) were excited at the interface of the Au layer placed in a microcavity. Theoretical and experimental investigations were conducted on the optical and magneto-optical spectra of the hybrid state, showing anticrossing behavior and dependence of spectral splitting on the thickness of the Au layer. The results provide insights for the design of tunable magneto-optical devices and sensors.

Spatially selective excitation of spin dynamics in magneto-photonic crystals by spectrally tunable ultrashort laser pulses

Daria A. Sylgacheva et al.

Summary: This work investigates the spatially selective optical excitation of spin dynamics in structures with multiple magnetic layers. The results show that magnetization precession can be triggered via ultrafast inverse Faraday effect, and the amplitude of the precession strongly depends on the pump central wavelength. This research is important for the ultrafast optical control of magnetization dynamics at a sub-wavelength scale.

Summary: By annealing different single layers, it was found that the ZrO2/SiO2 pair showed resistance to annealing and was used for the fabrication of 1D MPCs, resulting in Faraday rotation enhancement by an order of magnitude at the wavelength of the Fabry-Perot resonance.
