Flower-Shaped Optical Vortex Array

Haihao Fan et al.

Summary: A method for generating a flower-shaped optical vortex array (FOVA) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in this paper. The FOVA is created by superposing even and odd Ince-Gaussian beams, and the number of optical vortices in the array depends on the order and degree of the beams. The sign of the optical vortices in the FOVA can be transformed from positive to negative by adding a specific initial phase difference, and the gradient force and energy flow distribution of the FOVA are also studied.

Generation of an asymmetric optical vortex array with tunable singularity distribution

Ruoyu Zeng et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an asymmetric OVA structure generated by the coaxial superposition of a vortex beam and an elliptical Gaussian beam, resulting in multiple phase singularities located at discrete azimuthal angles and distances from the beam center. The number, sign, and distribution of local singularities can be modulated by defining two azimuthal discriminant functions, providing a new perspective for designs of connected OVAs with potential applications in particle manipulation, optical communication, and optical metrology.

Summary: This paper presents a new method for generating complex optical vortex (POV) arrays using combined phase-only holograms, enabling dynamically controllable multi-ring, TC, eccentricity, size, and the number of optical vortices. By setting up a beta(g) library to obtain optimized double-ring POV elements, a series of POV arrays are generated, demonstrating the versatility of the method and revealing analytical relationships between set parameters and intensity patterns.

Spatial-Light-Modulator-Based Multichannel Data Transmission by Vortex Beams of Various Orders

Svetlana N. Khonina et al.

Summary: The atmospheric multichannel data transmission system uses vortex beams for channel separation, with a multichannel DOE proposed for demultiplexing. Digital processing of output images is not necessary, instead relying on the numbers of informative diffraction orders for sorting. The system, based on two SLMs, achieves signal multiplexing and vortex beam separation, with investigations into the stability of the communication channel against atmospheric interference and crosstalk between channels.

Summary: By designing VAPGs with different parameters and loading them onto a single spatial light modulator (SLM), vortex arrays with different mode states and relative power were successfully generated in experiments. In addition, a 10-bit multi-dimensional space/mode/amplitude data coding/decoding scheme for image transfer in a free-space link with zero bit-error-rate was experimentally demonstrated, confirming the feasibility of the proposed VAPG-based coding/decoding scheme.
