Spectral and laser properties of Er:Yb:Ba3Gd(PO4)3 crystal at 1.5-1.6 μm

Jianhua Huang et al.

Summary: An Er:Yb:Ba3Gd(PO4)(3) crystal was grown using the Czochralski method. The spectral properties of the crystal, including absorption and fluorescence spectra, as well as fluorescence decay at room temperature, were investigated. The fluorescence quantum efficiency of Er3+ ions at the I-4(13/2) level and the energy transfer efficiency from Yb3+ to Er3+ ions were calculated. For the first time, a continuous wave diode-pumped Er:Yb:Ba3Gd(PO4)(3) laser operating at 1.5-1.6 μm with an output power of approximately 73.9 mW and a slope efficiency of 16.3% was achieved in the co-doped phosphate crystal.

Eye-safe 1.55 μm high-repetition-frequency self-Q-switched Er:Yb:Lu2Si2O7 pulse laser

Yujin Chen et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated a high repetition frequency self-Q-switched 1.55 mu m pulse laser in an Er:Yb:Lu2Si2O7 crystal. Changing the pump beam diameter from 400 mu m to 100 mu m increased the repetition frequency to 230 kHz, decreased the duration to 236 ns, and reduced the pulse energy to 1.22 mu J.

Pedagogically fast model to evaluate and optimize passively Q-switched Nd-doped solid-state lasers

Y. F. Chen et al.

Summary: The study fully considers the coupled rate equations with the spatial overlap effect for four-level passively Q-switched lasers, and derives a transcendental equation for the residual fraction of the inversion density. Comprehensive calculations are done to attain an analytical function for fitting the residual fraction. A pedagogical model with correction for high output coupling is developed for straightforward analysis of output pulse energy and peak power, validated through detailed experiments.

All-solid-s ate widely wavelength unable and high-efficiency Yb:YSr3(PO4)3 laser

Xiaoqin Yin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a highly efficient all-solid-state Yb:YSP laser capable of operating at multiple wavelengths within the range of 1024-1054 nm and achieving dual-wavelength operation. By varying crystal lengths and output coupler transmittances, the laser with high slope efficiency is realized, and wide wavelength tunability of over 60 nm is achieved using a birefringent filter. The Yb:YSP crystal shows promise as a candidate for ultrafast lasers in the 1 µm region.
