Compound plasmonic vortex generation based on spiral nanoslits

Chang-Da Zhou et al.

Summary: The concept of compound plasmonic vortex was proposed in this study, along with the design of structured plasmonic vortex generators using multiple spiral nanoslits. The topological charge of the plasmonic vortex varies in different regions, and theoretical analysis laid the foundation for the design of radially structured plasmonic vortex generators. The discussions about the interference of vortex fields definite the generation condition for the structured vortex.

Generation of rotating optical focal field employing turnstile antenna

Yanzhong Yu et al.

Summary: A rotating optical focal field is created by inversely focusing the radiation pattern from a turnstile antenna under a 4Pi focusing system, exhibiting an 8shape distribution and rotating around the optical axis. The rotating optical focal field tends towards a steady circular spot with nearly pure circular polarization, suitable for applications such as particle revolving, acceleration, and near-field scanning optical microscopy.

Tunable terahertz Dirac semimetal metamaterials

Xiaoyong He et al.

Summary: The tunable propagation properties of 3D Dirac semimetal patterned metamaterial structures in the terahertz regime have been symmetrically investigated. The results show that resonant properties are highly sensitive to the thicknesses of DSM MMs and support strong LC and dipolar resonances. By increasing the Fermi level, resonant strength becomes stronger, and asymmetrical resonators can achieve a very sharp Fano resonant peak with a large Q-factor.

Dual-band independent phase control based on high efficiency metasurface [Invited]

Jinxing Li et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a general method for achieving arbitrary dual-band independent phase control using a double-layered C-shape reflective meta-atom design. Two functional metasurfaces are proposed in the microwave region, one for beam steering in different directions and the other for achromatic beam steering at two distinct frequencies. The simulation and measurement results show good agreement with theoretical predictions, with high efficiency achieved at multiple frequencies for both metasurfaces.

Enhanced generation of nondegenerate photon pairs in nonlinear metasurfaces

Matthew Parry et al.

Summary: By utilizing the interplay of multiple bound states in the continuum resonances in nonlinear metasurfaces, a regime of nondegenerate photon-pair generation is theoretically predicted. This can significantly enhance the photon rate and spectral brightness compared to the degenerate regime, and the entanglement of the photon pairs can be tuned by varying the pump polarization for potential applications in ultracompact quantum light sources.
