Summary: Dy(3+)-doped transparent glass ceramics containing Ba-0.808(Al1.71Si2.29)O-8 crystal phase were successfully prepared by the melting crystallization method. The optimal heat treatment condition was determined to be 680°C for 1.5 hours. The glass ceramics exhibited a narrower optical band gap and emission peaks at 484 nm, 576 nm, and 669 nm corresponding to blue, yellow, and red emission of Dy3+. The concentration quenching was attributed to the electrical multipolar interaction between Dy3+.

A systematic study of lanthanide titanates (A2Ti2O7) chemical durability: corrosion mechanisms and control parameters

Kun Yang et al.

Summary: The research on dense lanthanide titanates revealed that the ionic size plays a dominant role in determining their chemical durability. The corrosion resistance of materials increased from La2Ti2O7 to Yb2Ti2O7 with decreasing ionic radius ratios of rare-earth elements and titanium, and there is a strong correlation among chemical composition/structural variation, passivation film formation, corrosion mechanisms, and materials' chemical durability.

Crystallization behavior of transparent Na2O-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramic containing rare-earth oxides

Tingzheng Li et al.

Summary: The impact of adding Eu2O3 and Nd2O3 on the crystallization behavior of NAS glasses was discussed, revealing that the addition of rare-earth oxides resulted in decreased crystallization activation energy and increased Avrami parameter n, indicating a tendency towards bulk crystallization and two dimensional crystal growth. As the heating temperature increased from 650 to 780 degrees Celsius, ZrO2, low-carnegieite, and nepheline crystals successively precipitated in NAS glasses, with Nd2O3 showing more effectiveness in promoting crystallization and forming ultra-fine microstructure compared to Eu2O3.
