Tin sulfide nanoparticles as photocatalysts for the degradation of organic dyes

Abimbola E. Oluwalana et al.

Summary: Tin sulfide nanoparticles were successfully prepared from single source precursors and utilized as efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of various dyes under visible light irradiation. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the SnS nanoparticles in degrading organic dyes, with high degradation efficiencies observed for brilliant green, crystal violet, methylene blue, and methyl red dyes. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to investigate the degradation pathway, while the impact of irradiation time, scavengers, and photostability on the photocatalysis process was also evaluated.

Preparation and morphological studies of tin sulfide nanoparticles and use as efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of rhodamine B and phenol

Abimbola E. Oluwalana et al.

Summary: Tin sulfide nanoparticles were prepared using different tin(ii) dithiocarbamate complexes as precursors. The nanoparticles exhibited orthorhombic crystalline structure, small average particle size, and narrow energy bandgap. They showed efficient photocatalytic performance in the degradation of rhodamine B and phenol, and could be repeatedly used without loss of their photodegradation ability.

Two step synthesis and electrochemical behavior of SnO2 nanomaterials for electrical energy storage devices

S. Amuthameena et al.

Summary: In this study, a green mediated synthesis method was used for the first time to reduce SnO2 nanomaterials from SnCl2, with rhizome of Corallo carpus epigaeus as a reducing agent. The nanoparticles were characterized optically, structurally, and morphologically, showing spherical shaped nanoclusters with an average size of 10-11 nm. Electrochemical studies revealed the pseudo capacitive nature and reversible redox reactions, with SnO2 nanomaterials exhibiting a larger specific capacitance value of 154.33 F/g at 5 mA/g. Additionally, the electron charge transfer resistance of 452 ohms indicated significant capacitive performance of the SnO2 nanomaterials.
