An insight into the influence of Ag/Se nanoparticles on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of Cs/PAM nanocomposites films as application in electrochemical devices

H. M. Ragab et al.

Summary: This paper presents a simple and efficient approach for producing nanocomposite polymer systems with chitosan (Cs) and polyacrylamide (PAM) as the host polymer and Ag/Se nanofiller for electrical energy storage. The structure of the prepared samples was investigated using ATR spectroscopy and XRD methods, while the optical properties were studied using UV-Visible spectroscopy. The energy band-gap values of Cs/PAM and Ag/Se nanocomposite films were calculated using Tauc's plot. The addition of Ag/Se ions in Cs/PAM blend films resulted in an increase in Urbach energy and a reduction in the optical energy gap, indicating improved optical properties. The dynamic ion behavior of the nanocomposite films was analyzed using the frequency-dependent AC conductivity. The epsilon' and epsilon as well as the M' and M vs. frequency graphs of the polymer blend were also reported at different contents of the Ag/Se nanofiller and ambient temperatures. The relaxation frequency of the nanocomposite films was determined, and it was found that the ionic conductivity increased with increasing Ag/Se concentration. The optimized nanocomposites exhibited excellent optical and ionic conductivity, making them suitable for electrochemical applications such as flexible capacitors, energy storage devices, and separators in batteries.

Enhancement of the optical properties of PVP using Zn1-xSnxS for UV-region optical applications

Ali Badawi

Summary: In this study, the optical properties of PVP polymer were enhanced by using ternary Zn1-xSnxS as filler for UV-region optical applications. The prepared polymeric composite films showed improved refractive index and optical conductivity compared to the plain PVP, making them suitable for UV-region optical applications. The interaction between Zn1-xSnxS material and PVP polymer was successful, resulting in a shift in the direct optical energy bandgap and cut off transmittance edge in the polymeric composite films.

Summary: The hydrothermal and co-precipitation methods were employed to create multifunctional MWCNTs/NiFe2O4/ZnO (MNFZ) hybrid nanostructures. Characterization through XRD analysis and TEM confirmed the formation of the MNFZ hybrid nanostructure. By using the casting technique, MNFZ nanoparticle-doped PVA and PEO were prepared with different concentrations of MNFZ NPs as nanofiller. The dielectric characteristics and ac conductivity of the polymer blend films were enhanced with the addition of nanofillers, making them suitable for electromagnetic applications.
