Improvement of the UV-Sensing Performance of Ga-Doped ZnO Nanostructures via a Wet Chemical Solution at Room Temperature

Yen-Lin Chu et al.

Summary: In this study, ultraviolet photodetectors were fabricated from zinc oxide and Ga-doped zinc oxide nanostructures on a Corning glass substrate using a simple wet chemical solution method at room temperature. The Ga-doped zinc oxide PDs exhibited higher photoresponsivity and stability compared to the undoped zinc oxide PDs, showing good electrical performance. The nanosheet structures provided a large surface-area-to-volume ratio, which is crucial for UV sensing.

Chemo-phototronic effect induced electricity for enhanced self-powered photodetector system based on ZnO nanowires

Yun Ji et al.

Summary: This study presents a self-powered ZnO UV photodetector system with optimized ZnO nanowire photoelectrode/electrolyte heterostructures, showing significantly improved photodetection performance by modulating pH-dependent chemo-phototronic effect. The enhancement in performance is related to pH-dependent chemical reaction, Schottky-like barrier height, and depletion region width modulation at the ZnO/electrolyte interface. The guidelines provided can lead to the fabrication of high-performance self-powered photodetector systems using semiconductor/electrolyte heterostructures, advancing the development of high-sensitivity and low-cost photodetector arrays.

Nitrogen plasma irradiation of Fe doped ZnO nanowire arrays for improved optical properties

Bello Ladan Muhammad et al.

Summary: This study investigates the enhancement of optical properties of hydrothermally grown ZnO nanowires through nitrogen doping during high-powered plasma irradiation. SEM, XRD, UV-visible spectroscopy, and XPS are used to analyze the morphology, structure, and doping of the nanostructures. The reduction in optical band gap and increase in light transmission suggest that nitrogen doping provides a controlled method for improving the applications of ZnO nanowires in photo-electrochemical and photovoltaic systems.
