Design and implementation of finite time sliding mode controller for fuzzy overhead crane system

Van Trung Nguyen et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the problem of fuzzy overhead crane system modelling and finite-time stability/boundedness using sliding mode control method. The fuzzy technique is employed to linearize the system and a fuzzy model with appropriate membership functions is established. The sliding mode control method is utilized to stabilize the system and handle external disturbances. Finite-time stability/boundedness is introduced to achieve system stability within a specified finite time.

Evolution of a heavy rigid body rotation under the action of unsteady restoring and perturbation torques

Dmytro Leshchenko et al.

Summary: This paper presents an approximate solution to Euler's equations with an additional perturbation term for a dynamically symmetric rotating rigid body. It investigates the perturbed motions of a rigid body under slowly varying restoring and perturbation torques, reducing the system order and demonstrating the use of general equations through an example motion. The study extends previous results on the dynamic motion of a symmetric rigid body subjected to perturbation and restoring torques, implementing an averaging method to obtain the averaging system of equations of motion with graphical representations of the solutions.

Robust observer-based anti-swing control of 2D-crane systems with load hoisting-lowering

Roger Miranda-Colorado

Summary: A new model-free robust control scheme is proposed for reducing the payload swing angle of two-dimensional crane systems with varying rope length. The controller includes a coupling function and disturbance observer to attenuate swing angle magnitude and minimize the effects of disturbances, allowing the system to track desired motion and hoist/load with minimal oscillations. Comparative numerical simulations show that the new controller outperforms existing control techniques in the presence of internal and external disturbances.

Modeling and nonlinear sliding mode controls of double pendulum cranes considering distributed mass beams, varying roped length and external disturbances

Qingxiang Wu et al.

Summary: This paper establishes a dynamic model of a double pendulum crane system with distributed mass beams (DMB) taking into account the varying rope length, and proposes four versions of sliding mode control utilizing an equivalent control strategy. A state observer adaptive to the length variation of the suspension rope is designed based on the pole placement method. Nonlinear sliding model control methods utilizing velocity control are also presented. Simulations and experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods in ensuring system stability, robustness, and adaptability to varying rope length.
