Impact of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to the Cerebellum on Performance of a Ballistic Targeting Movement

Akiyoshi Matsugi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of cerebellar rTMS on motor performance. The results suggest that cerebellar rTMS may disrupt motor learning and inhibit improvements in motor performance.

The Differentiation of Self-Motion From External Motion Is a Prerequisite for Postural Control: A Narrative Review of Visual-Vestibular Interaction

Shikha Chaudhary et al.

Summary: The visual system is an important source of sensory information that perceives environmental stimuli and plays a crucial role in maintaining postural stability by differentiating self-motion from external motion. This review summarizes the roles and interaction of the visual system with the vestibular system to maintain postural stability.

Intermittent theta burst stimulation of cerebellar vermis enhances fronto-cerebellar resting state functional connectivity in schizophrenia with predominant negative symptoms: A randomized controlled trial

Rakshathi Basavaraju et al.

Summary: The study showed that intermittent theta burst stimulation targeting the cerebellar vermis area had a certain effect on improving negative symptoms of schizophrenia, but the difference between the real and sham groups was not significant.

Motor and cognitive outcomes of cerebello-spinal stimulation in neurodegenerative ataxia

Alberto Benussi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that treatment with cerebello-spinal tDCS significantly improved motor and cognitive symptoms in patients with neurodegenerative ataxia both in the short and long-term. The improvement was observed in motor scores, cognition, quality-of-life scores, motor cortex excitability, and cerebellar inhibition after real tDCS compared to sham stimulation and baseline. An addon-effect was also observed after two repeated treatments with real tDCS.

Exploratory study of optimal parameters of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for neuropathic pain in the lower extremities

Nobuhiko Mori et al.

Summary: This study found that for patients with leg pain, using M1-rTMS at intensities below the RMT on the hand or foot can significantly reduce pain. However, there was no significant difference in pain relief when using stimulation above the RMT.

Exploratory study of optimal parameters of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for neuropathic pain in the lower extremities

Nobuhiko Mori et al.

Summary: The optimal stimulation parameters of rTMS for patients with neuropathic pain in the leg may target the M1 foot or M1 hand with an intensity below the resting motor threshold. Pain intensity was evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale and Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire.
