All-perovskite tandem solar cells with improved grain surface passivation

Renxing Lin et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed ammonium-cation-passivated Pb-Sn perovskites with long diffusion lengths, enabling high-efficiency all-perovskite tandem solar cells. By enhancing the adsorption of the passivator using a stronger surface-passivator interaction, the carrier diffusion length within Pb-Sn perovskites is doubled, resulting in an efficiency of over 22%. The certified efficiency of 26.4% achieved in the all-perovskite tandem solar cells exceeds that of the best-performing single-junction perovskite solar cells.

Quantum-size-tuned heterostructures enable efficient and stable inverted perovskite solar cells

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: The energy landscape of reduced-dimensional perovskites (RDPs) can be tailored by adjusting their layer width. In this study, a method to increase the layer width of RDPs in 2D/3D heterostructures is reported to address electron blocking at the interface. This method allows for the development of efficient inverted perovskite solar cells with high stability.

Randi Azmi et al.

Summary: By tailoring the dimensional fragments of two-dimensional perovskite layers, damp-heat stable perovskite solar cells with high power conversion efficiencies were successfully fabricated. These cells retain over 95% of their initial value after more than 1000 hours under damp-heat test conditions, meeting one of the critical industrial stability standards for photovoltaic modules.

Inactive (PbI2)2RbCl stabilizes perovskite films for efficient solar cells

Yang Zhao et al.

Summary: In halide perovskite solar cells, introducing RbCl doping effectively stabilizes the perovskite phase by converting excess PbI2 into an inactive compound. This strategy achieved a certified PCE of 25.6% for FAPbI(3) perovskite solar cells, with high device stability and minimal hysteresis effects.

Intact 2D/3D halide junction perovskite solar cells via solid-phase in-plane growth

Yeoun-Woo Jang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a solid-phase method to grow phase-pure two-dimensional perovskites in perovskite solar cells, enhancing device efficiency and stability. By growing a stable two-dimensional film on top of a three-dimensional film using a solvent-free method, an intact 2D/3D heterojunction is formed, resulting in high photovoltage in the device.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Defect compensation in formamidinium-caesium perovskites for highly efficient solar mini-modules with improved photostability

Yehao Deng et al.

Summary: The addition of excessive AX in formamidinium-caesium mixed-cation perovskites improves their photostability by compensating iodide vacancies and suppressing ion migration and defects generation during long-term illumination. This approach impedes the generation of hole traps and phase segregation, ultimately enhancing the stability and efficiency of the perovskite mini-modules.
