Detecting land use and climate impacts on water yield ecosystem service in arid and semi-arid areas. A study in Sirvan River Basin-Iran

Jahanbakhsh Balist et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of land use and climate changes on water yield ecosystem service in the Sirvan River basin in Iran. The results show a decrease in forest area and an increase in built-up areas, as well as a decline in precipitation and an increase in temperature. It is also projected that water yield will decrease in the future. The study finds that climate factors have a more significant impact on water yield than land-use change.

Urbanization impacts on flash urban floods in Bodrum Province, Turkey

Yildirim Bayazit et al.

Summary: This study calculated the impact of urbanization on flood size using satellite images, and developed flood-risk maps of basins using a multi-criteria decision-making model. It was found that the increase in urbanization led to an increase in flood flows and the size of risk areas from 1984 to 2019.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Temperature in Iran for the Twenty-First Century Foreseen by the CMIP5 GCM Models

Morteza Miri et al.

Summary: This study investigates the temporal and spatial variability of average monthly temperature in Iran from 2015 to 2060. The historical temperatures estimated by CMIP5 models show high correlation with observed temperatures, with the MRI-CGCM3 model slightly outperforming the others. Future decades are expected to see increasing air temperatures in most parts of the country, especially in mountainous areas.
