Eccentric debris disc morphologies - I. Exploring the origin of apocentre and pericentre glows in face-on debris discs

Elliot M. Lynch et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the morphology and surface brightness distributions of face-on eccentric debris discs are strongly influenced by their eccentricity profile. Different wavelengths can result in different glowing effects, either at apocentre or pericentre. The classical approach of interpreting eccentric debris discs using line densities is only valid under limited circumstances.

Solution to the debris disc mass problem: planetesimals are born small?

Alexander Krivov et al.

Summary: The article discusses debris belts on the periphery of planetary systems, and the potential 'mass problem' associated with bright debris discs. The simplest solution proposed is the assumption that planetesimals in systems with bright debris discs were 'born small'.

Gaia Early Data Release 3 Summary of the contents and survey properties

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The Hipparcos-Gaia Catalog of Accelerations: Gaia EDR3 Edition

Timothy D. Brandt

Summary: This study presents a cross-calibration of Hipparcos and Gaia EDR3, resulting in a new catalog that can be used to identify astrometrically accelerating stars and fit orbits to stars with faint, massive companions. The data shows that in the new edition of HGCA, precision is improved through measurements of long-term proper motion, and evidence of locally variable frame rotations is observed.

High-resolution ALMA and HST images of q1 Eri: an asymmetric debris disc with an eccentric Jupiter

J. B. Lovell et al.

Summary: The ALMA observations of the nearby star q1 Eri have revealed the presence of a planet and a debris disc. Parametric models were used to analyze the disc morphology and dust mass, and tentative evidence for an inner planetesimal belt was found. The study also set an upper bound on the CO gas mass in the system, consistent with cometary abundances in the Solar system.
