Core-collapse Supernova Simulations and the Formation of Neutron Stars, Hybrid Stars, and Black Holes

Takami Kuroda et al.

Summary: We investigate the observable effects of a first-order quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase transition in core-collapse supernovae and conduct numerical simulations to explore these effects. We find that the neutrino and gravitational wave signals produced by supernova explosions driven by the hadron-quark phase transition can be detected by current generation detectors. Furthermore, analyzing the response of gravitational wave detectors reveals unique kHz signatures that can distinguish these types of explosions from others.
