ASAS J071404+7004.3-a close, bright nova-like cataclysmic variable with gusty winds

K. Inight et al.

Summary: ASAS J071404+7004.3, a bright and nearby nova-like cataclysmic variable, was recently identified through various observations. Its period and mass transfer rate were determined, and rapidly changing winds from the accretion disk were found, with emission lines potentially originating from these winds. The variability of cataclysmic variables in the Gaia Hertzsprung-Russell diagram was also discussed.

Modelling rebrightenings, reflares, and echoes in dwarf nova outbursts

J-M Hameury et al.

Summary: The disc instability model can explain most properties of dwarf novae and soft X-ray transients, but phenomena like rebrightenings in WZ Sge stars remain unexplained. By analyzing a specific system and making adjustments to the model, researchers were able to account for the observed rebrightenings in the light curves.

Towards a volumetric census of close white dwarf binaries - I. Reference samples

K. Inight et al.

Summary: Close white dwarf binaries play a crucial role in various astrophysical phenomena, but limited and biased observational samples hinder in-depth understanding of their evolutionary pathways. The goal is to establish a representative volume-limited sample and investigate the evolution of these systems in observational properties.

The period-gap cataclysmic variable CzeV404 Her: A link between SW Sex and SU UMa systems

J. Kara et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the eclipsing cataclysmic variable CzeV404 Her to determine its origin, system parameters, and accretion disk structure. Our findings reveal specific characteristics of the system, such as the massive white dwarf mass, mass ratio, and hot secondary star temperature, as well as the presence of an extended hot spot or line region in the accretion disk. This object represents an intermediate link between SU UMa-type and SW Sex-type cataclysmic variables, displaying a unique combination of flow structure and physical conditions within the disk.
