Comparative Study of Three Raspberry Cultivar (Rubus idaeus L.) Leaves Metabolites: Metabolome Profiling and Antioxidant Activities

Summary: This study investigated the metabolite accumulation and cellular antioxidant activities of three different cultivars of raspberries using LC-MS/MS analysis. The results revealed multiple differentially accumulated metabolites among the cultivars, particularly lipids, amino acids and derivatives, flavonoids, and vitamins. The raspberry Autumn Britten cultivar showed the highest potential for protecting cells against UVB-induced damage. This research provides theoretical support for the identification of active metabolites in raspberry cultivars and the production of antioxidant products.

Insights into Polyphenol-Lipid Interactions: Chemical Methods, Molecular Aspects and Their Effects on Membrane Structures

Summary: Plant polyphenols have numerous potential applications in the fields of chemical ecology, human and animal health, and nutrition. Understanding and studying the interactions between polyphenols and lipids is crucial for determining their biological activity and usability. Various chemical tools have been used to investigate these interactions, revealing that polyphenols can interact and penetrate lipid bilayers in different ways. However, there is variability and even contradictions in the current research findings, such as the locations and orientations of polyphenols in lipid bilayers. By using well-characterized model polyphenols and lipids systematically, combined with multiple techniques, a comprehensive understanding of these fascinating interactions can be obtained.

Assessment of cytotoxicity and antioxidant properties of berry leaves as by-products with potential application in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products

Various extracts show significant ability to remove free radicals at higher concentrations, and exhibit different levels of cytotoxicity towards keratinocytes and fibroblasts. The results of cell migration capacity correlate with cytotoxicity tests.
