Postfunctionalization of Self-Immolative Poly(dithiothreitol) Using Steglich Esterification

Magnus Hansen-Felby et al.

Summary: In this study, we reported the use of Steglich esterification for postpolymerization modification of pDTT, which allowed the introduction of various side groups and achieved high yields and full conversion of hydroxyl groups in the polymer. The chemical modification significantly altered the physiochemical behavior and processability of the SIPs.

Self-immolative Amphiphilic Diblock Copolymers with individually Triggerable Blocks

Xiaoli Liang et al.

Summary: The synthesis, self-assembly, and triggered depolymerization of self-immolative block copolymers with individually triggerable hydrophilic and hydrophobic blocks have been studied. Acid and UV light are used as triggers to selectively depolymerize the respective blocks, leading to aggregation and disassembly. This self-immolative block copolymer system provides an enhanced level of control over smart copolymer assemblies and their degradation.

Synthesis and depolymerization of self-immolative poly(disulfide)s with saturated aliphatic backbones

Magnus Hansen-Felby et al.

Summary: Self-immolative polymers (SIPs) are degradable stimuli-responsive polymers that depolymerize selectively and stepwise to small molecules upon removal of labile end-caps. Different polymers derived from various dithiol monomers exhibit distinct stability and degradation pathways.

Dual-Responsive Material Based on Catechol-Modified Self-Immolative Poly(Disulfide) Backbones

Asger Holm Agergaard et al.

Summary: Functional materials engineered to degrade upon triggering are in high demand due their potentially lower impact on the environment as well as their use in sensing and in medical applications. This study focuses on stimuli-responsive polymers, prepared by decorating a self-immolative poly(dithiothreitol) backbone with pendant catechol units, which can be degraded in response to specific environmental changes, showing potential for various applications.

Dual closed-loop chemical recycling of synthetic polymers by intrinsically reconfigurable poly(disulfides)

Qi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces an intrinsically recyclable and reconfigurable poly(disulfide) polymer using thioctic acid as feedstock. Through dynamic covalent ring-opening polymerization, a dual closed-loop chemical recycling network is established among TA monomers and two kinds of polymer products, offering prospects for sustainable functional plastics.
