Flotation separation of smithsonite from calcite using an amino-acid collector

Qinbo Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, a new collector N-hexadecanoylglycine (C16Gly) was successfully utilized to selectively float ZnCO3 from CaCO3. Both DFT calculations and experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of C16Gly in achieving the selective flotation of ZnCO3 from CaCO3.

Selection of an appropriate acid type for the recovery of zinc from a flotation tailing by the analytic hierarchy process

Sait Kursunoglu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the importance and complexity of selecting the acid type for zinc recovery from flotation tailings. Results showed that sulfuric acid is the most desirable acid type, followed by citric acid and oxalic acid. Sensitivity analyses were conducted to examine the influence of main criteria on different acid types.

Molecular Model Construction of Low-Quality Coal and Molecular Simulation of Chemical Bond Energy Combined with Materials Studio

Hongwei Yan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the construction of molecular models of coal using C-13 NMR tests and molecular simulations. The results show a positive correlation between the degree of coal metamorphism and structural stability, with the optimized model exhibiting strong spatial three-dimensionality and lower total molecular energy. The more branched C-C bonds have longer bond lengths and lower bond energies, leading to the generation of different types of reactive radicals upon breakage of chemical bonds in coal molecules.

Utilization of polyepoxysuccinic acid as a green depressant for the flotation separation of smithsonite from calcite

Cheng Liu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that PESA can be used as a selective depressant for calcite in the flotation of smithsonite, achieving efficient separation. PESA prevented the adsorption of NaOl on the calcite surface, forming a weak interaction with the smithsonite surface, allowing NaOl to still be easily absorbed.

Effects of heating-sulfidation on the formation of zinc sulfide species on smithsonite surfaces and its response to flotation

Jinpeng Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the improvement of floatability of smithsonite through heating-sulfidation treatment. The results showed that the sulfidation behavior of smithsonite involves a chemical reaction and leads to the formation of a thick sulfide film on the surface. Additionally, the formation of zinc sulfide species composed of monosulfide and polysulfide was observed, with an increased S distribution ratio in polysulfide at higher sulfidation temperatures.
