Silicon redistribution, acid site loss and the formation of a core-shell texture upon steaming SAPO-34 and their impact on catalytic performance in the Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) reaction

Ivalina B. Minova et al.

Summary: SAPO-34 is a commercially-implemented catalyst for selective production of ethene and propene from methanol, but high temperature regeneration leads to deactivation. Prolonged hydrothermal treatment affects the structure and properties of SAPO-34, explaining changes in its catalytic performance. Steaming improves the lifetime of SAPO-34 in MTO catalysis, but irreversible changes occur, especially in crystals with higher Si contents.

The hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical SAPO-34 with improved MTO performance

Peixin Rui et al.

Summary: The fabrication of intracrystalline secondary pores is crucial for enhancing the catalytic performance of microporous zeolites. A two-step crystallization process using AlPO4 was found to be effective in synthesizing hierarchical SAPO-34 with abundant intracrystalline secondary porosity in a short period of time, leading to improved MTO activity and selectivity.
