A comparison of soil texture measurements using mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) and laser diffraction analysis (LDA) in diverse soils

Cathy L. Thomas et al.

Summary: The comparison between laser diffraction analysis (LDA) and mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) showed that MIRS had more accurate predictions of clay content compared to LDA, which tended to overestimate clay. Both techniques were effective for estimating soil texture in soils with low organic carbon content, with MIRS performing better in soils with higher organic carbon content.
