We developed a seismic phase identification method by combining VMD and HT algorithms for the controlled accurate seismic source. The algorithm effectively extracted seismic phase features and outperformed the traditional matched filtering algorithm.
We developed a seismic phase identification method for the controlled accurate seismic source (CASS) by combining variational mode decomposition (VMD) and the Hilbert transformation (HT) algorithm. CASS demonstrates significant potential for the study of underground structures with limited destruction and repeated work. However, extracting seismic phase features with high frequency interference is a difficult task. This study aimed to improve seismic phase identification by adopting VMD with HT algorithm using an active seismic source experiment data around Xinfengjiang reservoir. We obtained the main seismic phase included in direct wave Sg and reflected waves PmP and SmS. We evaluated the algorithm by comparing obtained results with theoretical one and found that the proposed algorithm can effectively obtain seismic phase distribution and shows better performance than the matched filtering algorithm. Moreover, the algorithm using the CASS data provides a reference for linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal processing.
