Prediction of enhanced thermoelectric performance in two-dimensional black phosphorus nanosheets

Yang-Fan Cui et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the thermoelectric properties of two-dimensional black phosphorus (BP) from monolayer to quad-layer through first-principles calculations and Boltzmann transport theory. It is found that the thermoelectric performance of BP nanosheets can be optimized by adjusting the layer thickness, with bi-layer BP showing significantly improved performance compared to bulk material. Furthermore, the formation of BP/h-BN heterostructure can further enhance the ZT value up to 1.2 at 500K, opening up new possibilities for flexible and eco-friendly thermoelectrics using thin BP.

2D MgF2 nanosheet as a promising candidate for thermoelectric material

H. R. Mahida et al.

Summary: The electronic and thermoelectric properties of MgF2 monolayer were theoretically simulated using first-principles calculations and the Boltzmann semi-classical approach. The T-phase of MgF2 monolayer exhibited ultra-low thermal conductivity, making it a promising candidate for superior thermoelectric materials. The theoretical investigations suggest potential applications of these materials in enhancing the performance of thermoelectric devices at both low and high temperatures.
