Oxygen flow rate effect on copper oxide thin films deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering

Rabah Tadjine et al.

Summary: Copper oxide thin films were prepared using radio frequency magnetron sputtering technology. Analysis of the films showed that working pressure and O2 flow rate significantly affect the properties of the copper oxide films, leading to the formation of different phases. Optical emission spectrometry of plasma discharge is essential in determining the best operating range for adjusting stoichiometry and phases to achieve preferred properties for specific applications.

Surface engineering of electrodeposited cuprous oxide (Cu2O) thin films: Effect on hydrophobicity and LP gas sensing

K. N. D. Bandara et al.

Summary: In this study, P-type cuprous oxide thin films electrodeposited on a titanium substrate in a lactate bath were investigated for liquid petroleum gas (LPG) sensing. The films showed increased hydrophobicity with higher deposition bath pH, affecting the sensitivity to LPG. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analyses revealed the crystalline structure and surface morphology of the Cu2O films, with a correlation between LPG sensitivity and the (200) peak intensity. Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis, Mott-Schottky plots, and spectral response measurements confirmed the p-type conductivity of the films.

Controlled Synthesis of Oriented Zinc Oxide Nanowires Arrays by Electrochemical Deposition on Sputtered Layer

L. Nkhaili et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the electrochemical synthesis of dense zinc oxide nanowires on sputtered zinc oxide buffer layers substrates using zinc chloride solution as a precursor. The formation mechanism of the nanorods and their potential application in solar cells as window layers were investigated. It was found that controlling the structural properties of the buffer layer is crucial in determining the density of the nanorods during the nucleation step.
