Developing alternative biomaterials for human skull is crucial for clinical applications. A novel method utilizing micro-lattice for skull repair has been proposed and implemented using specific material. The results show that the alternative biomaterial matches the performance of the actual skull and has broad clinical application prospects.
Developing alternative biomaterials for human skull (AB-HSs) are crucial for clinical biomedical applications. Novel method with micro-lattice is proposed for skull repair and its feasibility is implemented by AB-HSs. The AB-HSs is prepared with Ti-6Al-4 V bioactive material by additive manufacturing (AM). The results illustrate that the density and compression stiffness/strength of AB-HSs match with the actual performances of skull well. AB-HSs developed based on proposed novel design method has a broad clinical application prospect.
