In situ preparation of Bi2O3/(BiO)2CO3 composite photocatalyst with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity

Sheng Yin et al.

Summary: A Bi2O3/(BiO)2CO3 composite photocatalyst was prepared by calcinating (BiO)2CO3, showing enhanced photocatalytic activity for RhB degradation. The close contact and matching band structure between Bi2O3 and (BiO)2CO3 led to accelerated charge separation and transfer, promoting the production of reactive oxygen species and improving the photocatalytic performance. This heating treatment strategy may also benefit light absorbance and charge carriers separation for other UV-based photocatalysts.
