Yulei Feng et al.

Summary: A novel test method, self-restraint test, was proposed to evaluate the crack resistance of high hardness coatings prepared by laser cladding. The method was effective in evaluating different coatings and establishing empirical formulas. It has significant implications for the preparation of high hardness crack-free coatings.

Study on crack behavior of laser cladding ceramic-metal composite coating with high content of WC

Xuehui Shen et al.

Summary: The cracking behavior and crack formation mechanism of high WC wt% composite coatings were investigated. With increasing WC wt%, more cracks occurred in the coatings. The cracking of 50%WC coating was attributed to high tensile residual stress coupled with low toughness, while the higher crack susceptibility of 60%WC coating was mainly because of further increased residual stress.

Effect of steady magnetic field on microstructure and properties of laser cladding Ni-based alloy coating

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence mechanism of a steady magnetic field on Ni-based alloy coatings prepared on a pure iron substrate using magnetic field assisted laser cladding technology. The results show that the magnetic field can refine the grains of the coatings and increase the solid solubility of the γ-Ni matrix. It also helps reduce the number of cracks on the surface and improve the hardness of the coatings. The best comprehensive performance is observed under a magnetic induction intensity of 0.2 T.

Effect of magnetic field on tribological properties of Co-based alloy layer produced by laser cladding on 42CrMo

Kang Qi et al.

Summary: The study explored the effects of a magnetic field on the microstructure, hardness, and elastic modulus of a Co-based laser cladding layer on a 42CrMo substrate. Results indicated that a 20 mT magnetic field produced the highest magnetostriction effect, leading to reduced wear in the cladding material during the laser cladding process.

Particle distribution and microstructure of IN718/WC composite coating fabricated by electromagnetic compound field-assisted laser cladding

Kun Huo et al.

Summary: In this study, IN718/WC composite coatings were fabricated by electromagnetic compound field-assisted laser cladding, and the microhardness of the coating was improved through enhanced Marangoni convection induced by the electromagnetic compound field. The application of appropriate magnetic and direct current fields can promote the decomposition of WC particles in the molten pool, resulting in increased hardness of the coating.

A study on the influence mechanism and optimization of physical field parameters of electromagnetic-ultrasonic compound field-assisted laser cladding technology

Guofang Hu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence mechanism and parameter optimization of electromagnetic-ultrasonic compound field-assisted laser cladding, finding that ultrasonic power has the greatest impact on the microhardness of the cladding layer. As ultrasonic power increases, the wear volume of the cladding layer increases and wear resistance decreases. A smaller ultrasonic power and larger DC current value can achieve a cladding layer with smaller wear volume.
