Effects of collagen membranes and bone substitute differ in periodontal ligament cell microtissues and monolayers

Klara Janjic et al.

Summary: The study assessed the effects of collagen membranes and bone substitute on periodontal ligament cell microtissues, showing different metabolic activities and gene expression changes based on the material. PDLC microtissues may have potential as an in vivo-like model for GTR, but further tests are needed to confirm.

Core-shell Ag@C spheres derived from Ag-MOFs with tunable ligand exchanging phase inversion for electromagnetic wave absorption

Yihe Song et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricates a series of core-shell Ag@C EMAs materials through controllable phase inversion, and investigates the influence of MOF structure on the crystal and morphological structure of the EMAs. The optimized relaxation loss parameter enables the S2 sample to achieve a minimum reflection loss of -50.14 dB at a thickness of 3.0 mm. The EMA derived from the original Ag-MOF shows the widest absorption bandwidth of 5.44 GHz and a lower minimum reflection loss of -47.36 dB at 2.2 mm thickness, respectively.

Comparative In Vivo Analysis of the Integration Behavior and Immune Response of Collagen-Based Dental Barrier Membranes for Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR)

Milena Radenkovic et al.

Summary: Collagen-based resorbable barrier membranes are increasingly used for Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) as a substitute for non-resorbable synthetic membranes. The mechanical integrity and tissue integration of resorbable barrier membranes are crucial for space maintenance, wound healing, and bone augmentation. The study compares a commercially available porcine-derived sugar-crosslinked collagen membrane with two non-crosslinked collagen barrier membranes, analyzing material properties and tissue reactions over three time points.

Efficacy, safety, and physicochemical properties of a flowable hemostatic agent made from absorbable gelatin sponge via vacuum pressure steam sterilization

Yuanxing Zhou et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy, safety, and physical and chemical properties of a flowable hemostatic agent compared to gelatin sponge in various experiments. The flowable agent showed shorter bleeding time, less bleeding, higher likelihood of successful hemostasis, and shorter clotting time. No adverse outcomes were detected, making it a safe and more effective alternative for intraoperative hemostasis.

Complications and Management of Patients with Inherited Bleeding Disorders During Dental Extractions: a Systematic Literature Review

Olga Grigorita et al.

Summary: The systematic literature review on dental extraction in patients with inherited bleeding disorders found that a combination of local and systemic haemostatic therapies is effective in preventing bleeding during and after surgery. The research results indicate that with correct treatment plans, patients can undergo successful extractions with minor postoperative complications.

The biological width around implant

Zheng Zheng et al.

Summary: The concept of biological width is important in oral implantation, involving complex aspects such as formation, structure, dimension, and function. The established biological width acts as a biological barrier against bacteria and has significant implications for tissue remodeling and clinical aspects of dental implantation.
