Surface modification of thin-film nanocomposite forward osmosis membrane with super-hydrophilic MIL-53 (Al) for doxycycline removal as an emerging contaminant and membrane antifouling property enhancement

Shakiba Samsami et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel metal-organic framework thin film nanocomposite forward osmosis (MOF-TFN FO) membrane was developed for the removal of doxycycline. The modified membrane showed significantly improved water flux, antifouling properties, and removal efficiency of doxycycline. These findings provide a promising solution for antibiotic removal.

An upconversion nanosensor for rapid and sensitive detection of tetracycline in food based on magnetic-field-assisted separation

Yunlian Zhang et al.

Summary: An upconversion nanosensor for detecting tetracycline was developed using magnetic separation and electrostatic adsorption, with a linear detection range of 0.5-1000 ng mL(-1) and a detection limit of 0.17 ng mL(-1). This method showed great potential for tetracycline detection in food samples, providing simple operation, high sensitivity, excellent repeatability, and selectivity.

Magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer for the simultaneous selective extraction of phenoxy acid herbicides from environmental water samples

Susana Meseguer-Lloret et al.

Summary: In this study, a selective magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) was successfully synthesized and applied as sorbent in magnetic molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MMISPE) for the selective extraction of a mixture of five herbicides. The optimized MMISPE method combined with HPLC-DAD showed low detection and quantification limits, as well as good accuracy and precision. The MMIP sorbent demonstrated remarkable reusability without loss in extraction capacity.

Detection of Antibiotic Residues in Blossom Honeys from Different Regions in Turkey by LC-MS/MS Method

Buket Er Demirhan et al.

Summary: In this study, 80 commercial blossom honey samples from Ankara, Turkey were analyzed for 35 antibiotics using LC-MS/MS multi-antibiotic method. Seven out of the 35 antibiotics were detected in the samples, with dihydrostreptomycin and streptomycin being the most frequently detected. The pH, moisture, and electrical conductivity values of the honey samples were also determined.

Juan Cruz Carrizo et al.

Summary: This study found antibiotic residues in both farmed salmon and wild trout from Chile, with higher concentrations in wild fish. Different patterns of antibiotic residues were observed between farmed and wild specimens. Multivariate statistical analysis was used to identify differences between farmed and wild populations, and to determine the probable sources of antibiotics.

Summary: A fast and simple strategy based on the microwave technique for the preparation of magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) is proposed for the selective determination of sulfamethoxazole (SMX). The study involved computational design, synthesis, characterization, and application of MMIPs using different monomers, with experimental results confirming the computational approach. Both MMIPs showed good selectivity and sensitivity for SMX detection, with MMIP-MAA demonstrating higher recovery values in real sample (tap water) analysis compared to MMIP-AM.
