Efficient and Controlled Seeded Growth of Poly(3-hexylthiophene) Block Copolymer Nanofibers through Suppression of Homogeneous Nucleation

Liam R. MacFarlane et al.

Summary: By studying the homogeneous nucleation of block copolymers, it was found that spontaneous nucleation can be suppressed at 40 degrees Celsius, enabling efficient living crystallization-driven self-assembly to produce nanofibers with controllable lengths and low dispersity. This technique also allowed the preparation of B-A-B triblock comicelles and multiarm starlike arrays of fiberlike micelles with variable arm lengths.

Transformation from Rod-Like to Diamond-Like Micelles by Thermally Induced Nucleation Self-Assembly

Heng Li et al.

Summary: By introducing chlorine into the poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) core, a series of 1D rod-like micelles with controlled sizes were produced, and the transformation from 1D rod-like micelles to 2D uniform diamond-like micelles was achieved through thermally induced nucleation SA. The sizes of the 2D diamond-like micelles could be tuned by the annealing temperature and the ratio of unimer to seed, and the morphology transformation was based on energetics including thermodynamic and kinetic points.
