Carbon Dots Embedded in Cellulose Film: Programmable, Performance-Tunable, and Large-Scale Subtle Fluorescent Patterning by in Situ Laser Writing

Yuanyuan Guo et al.

Summary: In this work, a technology for in situ fluorescent patterning using laser direct writing on cellulose film was developed. The technology allows for adjustable fluorescent intensity and surface microstructure of patterns, simplifies the manufacturing process, and reduces costs. The fabricated fluorescent patterns exhibit excellent anti-counterfeiting performance, optical properties, and acid/base resistance.

Carbon Dots with an Emission in the Near Infrared Produced from Organic Dyes in Porous Silica Microsphere Templates

Evgeniia A. Stepanidenko et al.

Summary: In this study, carbon dots (CDs) with emission in the near infrared spectral region were successfully synthesized using a template-assisted method. The emission of the CDs was found to be related to their core optical transitions and dye-derivatives. By varying the annealing temperature, different types of optical centers were formed. The synthesized CDs exhibited an emission peak at 1085 nm and a photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.2%, which is the highest reported value for CDs emitting at wavelengths longer than 1050 nm.

Quantum dots assisted in vivo two-photon microscopy with NIR-II emission

Huwei Ni et al.

Summary: Two-photon excited NIR-II fluorescence microscopy shows promise due to its high resolution and deep penetration depth. However, the lack of imaging systems and suitable probes has limited its application. In this study, aqueously dispersible PbS/CdS quantum dots with bright NIR-II fluorescence were used as contrast agents for imaging. A 2PF lifetime imaging microscopic system was implemented, and in vivo imaging of mouse brain blood vessels was successfully achieved. Additionally, an in vivo two-photon fluorescence microscopy system based on an InGaAs camera was implemented for faster imaging of QDs-stained mouse brain blood vessels.
