Synergistic sorption performance of karaya gum crosslink poly (acrylamide-co-acrylonitrile) @ metal nanoparticle for organic pollutants

Sadanand Pandey et al.

Summary: In this study, facile hydrogels nanocomposite (HNC) based on sustainable karaya gum were prepared for water treatment. The HNC exhibited high adsorption capacity for crystal violet (CV) dye removal and could be regenerated for multiple reuse. The loading of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) into the polymeric matrix significantly enhanced the removal percentage of CV dye.

A Green Approach for the Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticle-Embedded Chitosan Bionanocomposite as a Potential Device for the Sustained Release of the Itraconazole Drug and Its Antibacterial Characteristics

Saruchi et al.

Summary: This research successfully demonstrated the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using the plant extract Saccharum officinarum and developed a chitosan-silver bionanocomposite. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized using UV spectroscopy, FTIR, and TEM, confirming their successful formation. Different kinetic models were used to study the release profile of itraconazole from the synthesized bionanocomposite, and the first-order kinetic model showed the best fit. The antibacterial activity of the synthesized bionanocomposite was efficient against Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus, and Escherichia coli strains.

Glutaraldehyde-cross-linked chitosan-alginate composite for organic dyes removal from aqueous solutions

Maithili A. Khapre et al.

Summary: A novel composite material was synthesized using glutaraldehyde as cross-linking agent for potential dye adsorption, exhibiting thermodynamically and spontaneous adsorption behavior. The synthesized composite showed promising adsorption capacity for three dyes, following Freundlich adsorption isotherm and pseudo second order kinetics. Results from both column and batch adsorption experiments were in close agreement, demonstrating the potential of the synthesized composite for dye removal applications.
