Margaret M. McNeill et al.

Summary: This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of capnography monitoring compared to pulse oximetry monitoring in detecting respiratory adverse events in PACU. The findings suggest that capnography can improve the detection of respiratory adverse events in the PACU. However, due to the limited number of randomized controlled trials and variations in outcome measurements, meta-analysis was not possible.

Room-temperature gas sensors based on titanium dioxide quantum dots for highly sensitive and selective H2S detection

Kaidi Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, controllable-sized TiO2 quantum dots were prepared via a rapid microwave-assisted solvothermal method for detecting ppb-level H2S at room temperature. The best sensing performance was achieved by the sample with ultra-small nanostructure and modified surface state, exhibiting high response, rapid response/recovery, low detection limit, good selectivity, and operating stability. The gas sensing mechanism was explained by the synergistic effect of ultra-small size, large specific surface area, and surface defects, and the practical application in detecting fish volatiles was also confirmed.

Enhanced visible light-excited ZnSnO3 for room temperature ppm-level CO2 detection

Kewei Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, microstructured ZnSnO3 material with special features was successfully synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal method, and visible light was used to enhance its sensing properties for CO2 gas. The results showed that ZnSnO3 exhibited high gas response, repeatability, and long-term stability towards 400 ppm CO2 at room temperature, with a higher response under purple light excitation. Additionally, ZnSnO3 showed excellent selectivity for 50 ppm CO2, making it a promising material for devices used in medical respiratory detection, agricultural crop growth detection, and other fields.

Suspension and Solution Precursor Plasma and HVOF Spray: A Review

Garima Mittal et al.

Summary: Thermal spray is a cost- and time-efficient process used in industrial and engineering sectors for mass production of desired coating structures. Liquid feedstocks in the form of suspensions or precursor solutions have the potential to overcome limitations of conventional powder feedstocks and offer better control over coating microstructure and material composition. However, there are complexities associated with liquid feedstocks that require understanding of the effects of different parameters on coating quality and performance.

In-situ synthesized N-doped ZnO for enhanced CO2 sensing: Experiments and DFT calculations

Yong Xia et al.

Summary: Chemiresistive CO2 sensing using well-developed ZnO material with nitrogen doping has been studied. It was found that the response to CO2 is higher in the presence of nitrogen doping and under N2 background. Density functional theory calculations revealed that nitrogen doping is responsible for the observed response. In the presence of pre-adsorbed O2, the interaction between N-doped ZnO and CO2 is hindered, resulting in limited response in air.

Well-connected ZnO nanoparticle network fabricated by in-situ annealing of ZIF-8 for enhanced sensitivity in gas sensing application

Yong Xia et al.

Summary: Low-power microheater platforms show great potential in reducing power consumption during gas sensing processes. By in-situ annealing a porous metal organic framework (MOF), ZIF-8, using a miniature heater electrode with a fast ramp rate, a well-connected nanoparticle network with high porosity is formed, leading to significantly enhanced response to ethanol compared to ex-situ annealed counterparts and commercially available nanoparticles. AC impedance spectroscopy reveals that the increase in performance is attributed to the large number of highly accessible and effective adsorption sites on the in-situ annealed material.
