Nanoparticles transportation with turbulent regime through a solar collector with helical tapes

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of hybrid nanomaterials, including fin and helical turbulator, to enhance the efficiency of the absorber unit. The results of numerical simulations show that increasing the diameter of circular gaps facilitates fluid movement, reduces pressure loss, and improves the mixing of hot and cold fluids. As the pitch factor decreases, the rotation of helical tapes increases, leading to an increase in the number of circular gaps. The temperature of the absorber plate decreases with increasing Reynolds number, while it increases with the augmentation of the diameter of circular gaps and the pitch factor.

Thermal improvement of linear Fresnel solar system utilizing Al2O3-water nanofluid and multi-way twisted tape

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermal treatment of Linear Fresnel Reflector (LFR) unit was enhanced by the application of multi-way twisted tape (MWTT). Finite volume simulations were used to predict the flow and thermal performance, and SolTrace and ANSYS FLUET were used to extract the distribution of absorb flux. The results showed that the rotation, width, and number of wings of the twisted tape significantly affected the fluid flow and thermal efficiency.

Nanofluid performance in a solar LFR system involving turbulator applying numerical simulation

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the productivity of a unit in an LFR system by using innovative swirl flow tapes and hybrid nanoparticles. The thermal feature of water was enhanced by dispersing Al2O3 + CuO nanoparticles. A solar unit was designed with 12 mirrors, one absorber tube, and a secondary reflector. SolTrace was used to calculate the heat source in the solid zone of the tube. The effects of inlet flow rate, temperature, pitch ratio, and height ratio were examined, and the inclusion of hybrid nanomaterial was found to enhance the Nusselt number, thermal productivity, and Darcy factor.

Numerical investigation of solar system equipped with innovative turbulator and hybrid nanofluid

M. Sheikholeslami

Summary: This article investigates the use of horseshoe-shaped fins and perforated tape in a solar system to improve productivity and mixing efficiency. The selected modeling techniques were found to be suitable for turbulent flow based on the comparison with empirical data. The study shows that dispersing hybrid nano-powders can enhance heat absorption and thermal efficiency, but at the cost of increased pumping power.
