This paper proposes a new framework focusing on the thermal-wet and pressure comfortability of seamless weft knitted fabrics (SWKF). An innovative method of multi-point measurement is introduced to evaluate the overall stress of the fabrics, and the thermal-wet and pressure comfortability of SWKF is analyzed by properties. The study also reviews the heat-moisture transport properties and pressure evaluation of SWKF through fabric performance, demonstrating the usefulness of the proposed SWKF simulation method for virtual design and digital manufacture, and promoting the popularity of weft knitting seamless technology.
The comfortability of weft knitted fabric is strongly dependent on the heat transfer and pressure. Most of the existing researches focus on the backward semi-finished fabric knitted by double needle computerized flat knitting machine. This kind of semi-finished fabric not only lacks the three-dimensional structure, but also needs the subsequent complex processes such as garment sewing, and cannot carry out comfort simulation, which hinders the design and manufacture of weft knitted fabric. To fill the gap, this paper proposes a new framework focusing on thermal-wet and pressure comfortability of seamless weft knitted fabrics (SWKF). An innovative method of multi-point measurement was proposed to evaluate the overall stress of the fabrics. As a base unit, it has great potential and versatility to describe thermal-wet and pressure comfortability of SWKF by analyzing properties. Then, review heat-moisture transport properties and pressure evaluation of SWKF by the performance of the fabrics with different structures. It shows that the proposed method for the simulation of SWKF is a useful tool for achieving virtual design and digital manufacture of SWKF, and can promote the popularization of weft knitting seamless technology.
